Q & A with the Cannon Builders Dream Team

What’s Up Wednesday: Q & A with the Dream Team

Right now, as home builders, there are very few things we can do outdoors to get the houses done and still allow them to meet the 2-10 HBW Structural and Home Warranty Service.

For example, We’ve got five homes in Stone Crossing, my new phase that is ready, they have permits, they’re staked and we can’t dig those right now because the ground is just too cold. It would expose too much frost.

Basically, it opens up that warm spot and then the ground would just open up for frost and it holds that frost in too long.

We get email questions from you guys all the time. Thanks for sending such great questions.

How do you pour driveways and things like that in cold weather?

The simple answer is, we don’t. We’re not going to get quality. We won’t subject you to bad quality just to get our quantity.

Yep, everything’s just put on hold when the weather is really cold.

Another question that was recently asked, what is the dumbest way you’ve been injured on the job?

Holli Colbert shares her story:

I have this client, her name is Angel. Everybody knows that construction job site is dangerous. Which is why OSHA has regulations.

We’re showing her the house and we’re on the porch and as I’m turning around to tell her to watch her step I turned back around and slammed my head right into a two by four. Blood immediately rushes down.

I was dressed in a dress and heels and all kinds of stuff. Totally humiliating and ended up with a concussion.

The good news was Angel did not get hurt. She watched her step. I’m pretty sure that was one of the most humiliating things that have ever happened to me in all my years of real estate.

Okay, next question.

What’s your design style?

Depends if it’s at work or at home.

Shelly is all up with the new trend and she’s always got the latest and greatest design trends even in her home.

Holli is definitely farmhouse. If she could be Chip and Joanna Gaines she totally would on the farm.

How Long Has The Dream Team Been With Cannon Builders

Another question we get is how long have you been working for Cannon Builders? Or how long have you been in real estate?

Shelly has been in the industry for almost 20 years and has been with Cannon Builders since 2003.

Holli has been in the real estate industry for about 17 years and has been with Cannon Builders for over 7 years.

“I love it here. Love the company that has good integrity. It was a good fit, and it all happened and fell into place and then a year after she came back we decided to partner back up and here we are.” Holli Colbert

If you girls were looking for a place where would it be?

The last question for the day was if you girls were looking for a place where would it be? Where would you live and why? I think that’s a good idea because we love our floor plans, we do, we absolutely love our floor plans.

Shelli shares she would build a Verona or the Tuscany. Maybe I could mix them both into one. I don’t know.

Yeah, if money was no object, we could make a whole new floor plan and we would offer it here at Cannon Builders.

Holli shares she would live on a big farm and have fainting goats and possibly a llama.
